Sooner Station residents are making the news! We recently had 5 different residents highlighted in some great local stories.
NORMAN SENIORS TO COMPETE IN OKLAHOMA CITY MEMORIAL SENIOR MARATHON
Four seniors from Sooner Station are setting out to complete the Oklahoma City Memorial Senior Marathon.
80-year-old Barbara Porter, 82-year-old John Schwarts, 72-year-old David Coffman and 81-year-old Judy Black from Sooner Station Senior Living in Norman have been training hard to reach their goals.
According to Sooner Station, the seniors’ goal began when a representative from the OKC Memorial Marathon visited the seniors to promote the Senior Marathon. Although the 26.2 miles seemed daunting, the seniors complete the majority of their race over the course of four months and the final 1.2 miles are finished on race day.
SOONER STATION RESIDENT TREATED TO A SHOPPING SPREE AT A LOCAL DEPARTMENT STORE
Betty Ludwig went back in time Thirsday. She entered Dillard’s at Sooner Mall and it was like she’d never left 1970’s Little Rock. That’s where Betty and her daughter Maggie Mitchell used to spend Staturdays shopping and having lunch.
Thursday it was Maggie’s turn to pick out clothes for her 94-year old mother who, had not been to the mall since the pandemic. It turns out she was the first winner of the center’s “Living the Dream” program, and recieved a shopping spree which Dillard’s picked up. To read more about this special day, click here.
